Atty. Duano started his professional experience in litigation as an Associate Counsel in the law firm of Atty. Rufus B. Rodriguez (former Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration & Deportation and now a member of the 14th Congress of the Republic of the Philippines). Aside from his practice, he teaches law at San Sebastian College, Institute of Law since 1995 to present. He taught the Civil Law subjects of Obligations & Contracts, Sales & Other Special Contracts, Credit Transactions, Partnership, Agency and Trusts and other law subjects like Legal Ethics, Statutory Construction and Legal Counseling. Further, he was special lecturer in the prestigious schools in Manila such as the Colegio de San Juan de Letran and in the exclusive school of College of the Holy Spirit of Manila.
In 1995, Atty. Duano was accredited as a Voluntary Arbitrator (VA) by the Department of Labor and Employment-National Conciliation and Mediation Board (DOLE-NCMB), Region IV. He has significant corporate law experience as legal counsel and corporate secretary from 1997 to 2001 to various corporations such as Adventure International Tours, Inc.-American Express Travel Representative, Asiana Philippines GSA, Inc. [Asiana Airlines' Philippine General Sales Agent], Transnational Air Corp. [Malaysian Airlines' Philippine General Sales Agent], Transnational Food Services, Corp. [Domino's Pizza], Pizzavest Transnational Corp. [Domino's Pizza], TRANSAM Food Services Corp., Antonelli Realty Holdings, Inc., Transnational Plans, Inc., Filipinas International Transport Corp., Transnational World Forwarding, Inc., Transcontainer Limited Phils., Inc., NCT Transnational Corp., New Wave Transport Co., Ltd.) to name a few.
For more than five (5) years or from January 2002 to June 2007, Atty. Duano was also counsel to Philippine Pizza, Inc. (PPI), the franchise holder of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, DQ Treats (American Dairy Queen) and other international brands in the Philippines. Since Pizza Hut is a labor intensive company, he represented the said corporation in all its labor disputes before the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), National Conciliation and Mediation Board of the Department of Labor and Employment, appeal before the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. Among the noteworthy contracts that he reviewed were the international franchise agreements of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Wolfgang Puck, DQ Treats (American Dairy Queen), Distribution Agreement & Trademark License Agreement of Prima Food, PTE Ltd., Mister Donut and other contracts involving technology transfer and use of intellectual property.
Atty. Duano has likewise substantial exposure in handling labor, criminal, administrative, immigration, intellectual property, employment, corporate, business and civil cases with emphasis in termination disputes, labor relations, visa application, application for, maintenance and monitoring of intellectual property registration, voluntary licensing, registration of branches, representative offices or regional headquarters and foreign corporations and assistance to foreign investors, mergers, acquisitions, dispositions of businesses and its due diligence, licensing, registration and securing incentives with various government agencies and family law such as declaration of nullity of marriage, annulment of marriage, relative divorce (legal separation), domestic adoption, support, child custody, ancillary and independent civil action for protection order of women and their children, & declaration of presumptive death, preparation of prenuptial agreement and donations propter nuptias and judicial separation of property.
